Writer's Breakthrough was founded in 2004 by Dr. Grace LaJoy Henderson. She is an author, educator, speaker, motivator, poet, and a spoken word artist. She has published several books, DVDs and CDs.

After years of researching and trying to find ways to publish her book, Grace LaJoy finally figured it all out. As a result, in 2003 she self-published her first book entitled More Than Mere Words: Poetry That Ministers and released it in January of 2004.

Realizing that there were other writers out there who were seeking and searching for book publishing information, Grace LaJoy decided to save them the "foot work" and share her information with them.

She began sharing it by creating a two page outline, of the steps that she took to publish her own book, and made it available at her first book signing in February of 2004.

In August of 2004 she expounded on each step in preparation to teach the material at a local Bible college. The result was a draft copy of her book entitled Writer's Breakthrough: Steps To Copyright and Publish Your Own Book.

In September of 2005, Grace LaJoy self-published Writer's Breakthrough: Steps To Copyright and Publish Your Own Book, and conducted her first mini Writer's Breakthrough Workshop at the Internal Revenue Service. Several other mini workshops followed the first one at places such as churches, libraries, and book stores.

In May of 2006, the First Annual Writer's Breakthrough Workshop was held in Kansas City Missouri. Annual workshops have been held ever since.
